Jan Buddy is Mattes' cousin and one of his biggest fans. Short-sighted, with a good sense of humor, he imitates Mattes and follows in his footsteps in the Möwenluft company in Hamburg.

With little Lotti, whom he meets by chance on his way to his seagull flock in Hamburg, he experiences many exciting adventures on the coasts of this world.
